The fruits grow on an upright, hairy and woody-stemmed plant that is hardier than most chilli varieties, making it a good choice for overwintering. The abundant fruits are up to 9cm long and reach full size in 75 days from potting on. The variety we sell produces longer fruits than the typical Serrano. Perfect for a greenhouse bed.

Heat: 10,000 Scoville heat units

Hot Chilli Pepper Seeds SANTA FE GRANDE - GUERO

Price for Package of 5 seeds.

A pretty chile, Santa Fe Grande pepper (also known as Guero) matures from yellow to orange-red with mild heat and slight sweetness. It works well either cooked or fresh for salads, salsas, and other dishes based on chile peppers. Plants grow about 2 feet tall and are resistant to tobacco mosaic virus.

The peppers start as a pale yellow color before maturing to a bright orange or to a fiery red about 75 days after transplanting. They are somewhat sweet to the taste and great for pickling.

Santa Fe Grande is of the Capsicum annuum family, produced in the southwest. The peppers grow upright on 24" plants and have a mild pungency.

The plants typically produce 20-50 chili peppers.

Light: Full sun

Fruit size: 9 cm by 3,8 cm

Matures: 75 to 80 days

Plant size: 80 cm tall

Scoville heat units: 500 to 750 (mild)

Light requirements: Full sun.

Planting: Space 12 to 48 inches apart, depending on type. (See information above for specific recommendations.)

Soil requirements: Peppers need well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Amend soil with 3 to 5 inches of compost or other organic matter prior to planting. Soil pH should be 6.2 to 7.0.

Water requirements: Keep soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. Mulch soil to reduce water evaporation.

Frost-fighting plan: Pepper is a hot-weather crop. A light frost will damage plants (28º F to 32º F), and temps below 55º F slow growth and cause leaves to look yellowish. If a surprise late spring frost is in the forecast, protect newly planted seedlings with a frost blanket.

Common issues: Plants drop flowers when daytime temps soar above 90º F. Few pests bother peppers, but keep an eye out for aphids, slugs, pill bugs, and leafminers. Humid weather (especially in gardens with heavy soil that doesn’t drain well) can invite fungal diseases like leafspot.

Harvesting: Check image on plant tag (or at the top of this page) to learn what your pepper looks like when mature. Some peppers turn red, yellow, or other colors at maturity. Others are ready in the green stage, but will turn red if left on plants. Use pruning shears or a sharp knife to cut peppers with a short stub of stem attached. Pulling peppers by hand can cause entire branches to break off. Fruits store longer for fresh use if you don’t remove the stem, which can create an open wound that’s ripe for spoiling.

Storage: Store unwashed (or washed and dried) peppers in the refrigerator in a loosely closed plastic bag. Moisture is a pepper’s enemy and hastens spoiling. For peak flavor and nutrition, use within a week.

Hot Chilli Pepper Seeds CALORO (Capsicum annuum)

Price for Package of 10 seeds.

It is an Annuum making it closely related to the Bell Pepper, Jalapeños and Czechoslovakian Black.

This baby has the looks, the smell and the taste of one great pepper, but it is a chilli. She is one sweet sixteen with a temperament that will make you want her. But behold, she bites if you take her the wrong way.

The form is a bit of a jalapeños at first, but gets longer. It turns from green to a lovely yellow, and stays yellow a long time, then at the end it turns to a lovely and bright red (fruits 5x12 cm). The plants can grow to about 60-90 cm (2-3 foot) and have a stunning high yield. If the first gets red, pick it immediately, if you do that after the first couple red ones you picked it will start to flower again. It looks a bit like the Hot Banana, but at some point it will have a few reds per day between the yellow ones.

Now don’t let the looks fool you, it is a mild to medium chilli, rating from 1000 to 5000 scoville heat units. So it does have some good heat. The smell when you cut it open is stunning, it is sweet and has good herbs. Smelling it does remind me to Jerusalem artichoke a bit along the smell of the herbs, or fatty bacon baked. The taste is sweet, lush, juicy and succulent like a great snack pepper, tasting of a sweet bell pepper and lemonade. This is one fruity lovely chilli, a good snack for a hothead and for people that are not used to superhot it is lovely in salads. If you take out the seed lists totally, it is lovely and mild, but you could just chop one in full, to put it in a Bell Pepper soup.

85 days from germination. Capsicum annuum.

Aji Charapita chili Seeds World’s Most Expensive Chili

Price for Package of 10, 25, 50 (0.085g) seeds.

Our Charapita plants 2020 growing just fine (see pictures)

As you can see yourself from our photos, that the seeds are from our own plants (organically grown) and you know what you will get from the seeds you buy from us...

This chili pepper is the most expensive in the world! Although still fairly unknown in most Western countries, the Aji Charapita is a highly sought-after treat among chili pepper connoisseurs and five-star restaurant chefs.

Native to the jungles of northern Peru, the Aji Charapita is known as wild chili pepper and has only recently being cultivated for commercial use. Due to its rarity and hefty prices, it is often known as the "Mother of All Chilis" With a Scoville hotness rating of between 30,000 – 50,000 units, the Aji Charapita will burn a hole through your tongue as well as your wallet.

Nicknamed “the mother of all chili” Aji Charapita reportedly costs a minimum of $25,000 per kilo, making it the most expensive chili pepper in the world, and one of the most expensive spices, along with vanilla and saffron.

It may be small (up to 1 meter in height), but the Charapita chili or ‘aji Charapita’ as it is known in Peru is not to be underestimated. Aji Charapita (Capsicum chinense) or Charapita is a bushy shrub that produces masses of (over 400 fruits per plant) small maturing yellow round peppers.

Used fresh, this tiny pepper has a strong fruity flavor that gives salsas and sauces a tropical taste, but it is mostly used in powdered form to a bit of spiciness to various dishes. The ripe fruit was simply pierced or squeezed and the juice utilized as a piquant finishing spice on food. These chilies also bring many health benefits. Their capsaicinoids can help improve digestion and circulation when consumed as part of a balanced diet.
