<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> </head> <body> <div> <h2><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Carrot Nantes 11000 seeds</strong></span></h2> <h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Price for Package of 11000 seeds (20g).</span></strong></span></h2> <div>Developed in the area of the town of Nantes, France, this classic carrot is famous for flavor and a big crunch. Bright orange flesh is fine grained with almost no core. Roots average 6-7” long with blunt ends and small to medium tops. Shorter roots make the Scarlet Nantes carrot successful in some soils where longer-rooted varieties have trouble developing fully.</div> </div> <div>Sowing Instructions</div> <div>Site &amp; Soil</div> <div>Get the soil conditions correct and carrots are one of the easiest vegetables to grow in the cooler climates. Incorrect soil conditions lead to mis-shapen carrots - these may well cause a chuckle when dug up, but they are not so well appreciated at cooking time! Carrots prefer a light soil which has been improved with lots of well-rotted organic material fully dug into the soil. Carrots grown on heavy soil, or where organic material is not well-rotted, will become misshapen and grow 'forked. Stones in the soil will have the same bad effect. Prepare the bed two weeks or so before planting, forking in a handful of bonemeal for each square metre (yard). Ensure that the soil is dug to a spade's depth and is of a crumbly texture.</div> <div>When to Sow</div> <div>Sow seeds from early spring to autumn</div> <div>How to Sow</div> <p>Using a trowel, dig out narrow drills 2cm (3/4inch) deep and 12cm (8inches) apart. Carrot seed is fine - the easiest way to sow is to empty some seed from the packet into the palm of your left hand and and take small pinches of seed with your right hand fingers, dropping a couple of seeds every 2.5cm (1 inch) along the narrow drills. Sow the seed thinly to avoid too much thinning out later. Cover the seeds with fine soil very gently firming it down. Water with a fine spray if the conditions are dry. The seedlings should start to appear 15 to 20 days later.</p> <table class="data-table"><colgroup><col width="25%" /><col /></colgroup> <tbody> <tr class="first odd"> <th class="label"> </th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Details</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Common Name</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Carrot</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Botanical Name</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Daucus</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Light Requirements</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Full Sun</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">How to Grow</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Direct Sow</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Planting Depth</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">1/4 inch</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Planting Time</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Cool Season</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Seed Spacing</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">1/2 inch</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Row Spacing</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">12-15 inches</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Space After Thinning</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">1-2 inches</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Days to Germination</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">6-53</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Days to Harvest</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">65</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Ways to Grow</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Small Gardens</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">In the Kitchen</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Freezing, Roasting, Salads, Steaming</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Estimated Mature Height</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">8-12 inches tall</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Is It Heirloom?</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Yes</span></td> </tr> <tr class="odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Is It Organic?</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Yes</span></td> </tr> <tr class="even"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Ships As</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Seed</span></td> </tr> <tr class="last odd"> <th class="label"><span style="color: #008000;">Ships to Worldwide</span></th> <td class="data last"><span style="color: #008000;">Yes</span></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html>

<h2><strong>Little Finger Carrot Seeds</strong></h2> <h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Price for Package of 100 seeds.</strong></span></h2> <p>The little finger is a variety of small carrot, very tender and tasting carrots that have virtually no core. They can be served to the table in fresh or pickled form, without cutting into the pieces.</p> <p>Since carrots are edible in any size, root crops can be left in the ground for a long time and they will remain sweet and fresh there. You can start harvesting the Little Fingers on day 55, or you can wait up to 80 days.</p> <p>Carrots are a cold-resistant vegetable, sown 2 weeks before the last frost.</p> <p><strong><em>Growing Information</em></strong></p> <p><strong>How to Sow</strong></p> <ul> <li>Carrots can be sown early, after danger of heavy frost is over. Sow every two weeks thereafter for continuous harvest, or simply sow a second crop in midsummer for fall harvest. In frost free areas, sow in fall.</li> <li>Carrots do not like to be transplanted and are best sown directly into the garden bed. Sow carrot seeds in deep, well-worked soil in full sun. Straight roots require soil that is light, loosened deeply, and free of stones, so prepare a carrot planting thoroughly. Consider using a soil amendment such as compost if your soil is heavy. If you choose long carrot varieties, your soil will need to be worked more deeply.</li> <li>Sow thinly in rows 12 inches apart and cover with ½ inch of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist.</li> <li>Since seedlings have fine leaves it may be beneficial to plant radish along with your carrot seed. The radishes will be harvested well before carrots form and act as a guide to the carrot row.</li> <li>Seedlings emerge in 14-21 days.</li> <li>Thin carrot plants to stand 1 inch apart when seedlings are 3 inches high.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How to Grow</strong></p> <ul> <li>Keep weeds under control during the growing season. Weeds compete with plants for water, space and nutrients, so control them by either cultivating often or use a mulch to prevent their seeds from germinating.</li> <li>Deep, consistent watering and soil well-enriched with compost help carrots form high quality roots by encouraging lush leafy tops that shade the roots, helping to prevent "green shoulders."</li> <li>Keep plants well watered during dry periods to promote uninterrupted growth. Plants need about 1 inch of rain per week during the growing season. Use a rain gauge to check to see if you need to add water. It’s best to water with a drip or trickle system that delivers water at low pressure at the soil level. If you water with overhead sprinklers, water early in the day so the foliage has time to dry off before evening, to minimize disease problems. Keep the soil moist but not saturated.</li> <li>Monitor for pests and diseases. Check with your local Cooperative Extension Service for pest controls recommended for your area.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Harvest and Preserving Tips</strong></p> <ul> <li>To make harvesting easier, soak your carrot bed with water before pulling. Twist the tops off while pulling the roots up.</li> <li>You can leave carrots in the ground after the first frost. In cold climates, pull carrots up before the ground freezes. In warm climates, you can harvest carrots all winter.</li> <li>Cut the greens off the top after harvest to about ¼ - ½ inches above the shoulder. This will help the carrot to keep longer as the greens can take moisture from the root.</li> <li>Carrots store best at 32-38 degrees F at 98% humidity.</li> <li>You can store them in the refrigerator in plastic bags, or they may be blanched and frozen for later use.</li> <li>Carrots may be canned or pickled as well.</li> </ul>

To prevent this from happening, hill up dirt around the tops of the carrots.</p> </div>

<h2><strong>Rainbow Carrot Seeds (mixed colors)</strong></h2> <h2><span><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>Price for Package of 25 seeds.</strong></span><strong><br /></strong></span></h2> <div>Rainbow mix carrot lives up to its name — its 11” long tapered roots are a beautiful Rainbow mix color that gets brighter when cooked. This variety gets its hue from healthful Lypocene, a precursor to beta carotene credited for helping prevent several types of cancer. Grow carrots in cool weather. Draw out the Rainbow mix remarkable color and flavor by steaming, roasting or baking these crispy roots. They’re very tasty in soups or stews.</div> <h3><strong>Sowing Instructions</strong></h3> <p><strong>Site &amp; Soil</strong></p> <p>Get the soil conditions correct and carrots are one of the easiest vegetables to grow in the cooler climates. Incorrect soil conditions lead to mis-shapen carrots - these may well cause a chuckle when dug up, but they are not so well appreciated at cooking time! Carrots prefer a light soil which has been improved with lots of well-rotted organic material fully dug into the soil. Carrots are grown on heavy soil, or where organic material is not well-rotted, will become misshapen and grow 'forked. Stones in the soil will have the same bad effect. Prepare the bed two weeks or so before planting, forking in a handful of bonemeal for each square meter (yard). Ensure that the soil is dug to a spade's depth and is of a crumbly texture.</p> <p><strong>When to Sow</strong></p> <p>Sow seeds from early spring to autumn</p> <p><strong>How to Sow</strong></p> <p>Using a trowel, dig out narrow drills 2cm (3/4inch) deep and 12cm (8inches) apart. Carrot seed is fine - the easiest way to sow is to empty some seed from the packet into the palm of your left hand and take small pinches of seed with your right-hand fingers, dropping a couple of seeds every 2.5cm (1 inch) along with the narrow drills. Sow the seed thinly to avoid too much thinning out later. Cover the seeds with fine soil very gently firming it down. Water with a fine spray if the conditions are dry. The seedlings should start to appear 15 to 20 days later.</p>

<h2><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em><strong>Carrot 'Nantes' Seed Tape</strong></em></span></h2> <h3><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>Price for Package of 1m (75-100 seeds).</strong></span></h3> <div>Seed tapes are an easy way to sow carrots without struggling to handle the small seeds, or the need for thinning out. Simply roll out these tapes of pre-spaced seed in a moist, well prepared seed drill. This fast maturing selection is ideal for early sowings under glass in late winter for your first crop of the year. Carrot ‘Nantes 2’ produces blunt tipped, medium length roots of about 15cm (6") long. This virtually coreless variety has a rich orange colour and sweet crunchy taste. Height: 30cm (12"). <span style="line-height:1.5em;">Spread: 15cm (6").</span></div> <p><strong>How To Sow</strong></p> <div>Direct sow carrot seeds outdoors from March to July. Early varieties may also be sown from February to March in greenhouse borders or under cloches. Specific autumn sowing carrot varieties can be sown as late as October under cloches for an early crop in spring. Grow Carrots in a weed free, sunny position in fertile, light, well drained soil. Carrots dislike freshly manured soils so seed beds are best prepared in autumn, well in advance of spring sowings.</div> <div>Sow carrot seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm (½in) in drills 30cm (12") apart. Germination will take 10 to 20 days. When large enough to handle, thin out the seedlings within each row to 10cm (4in) apart. Where space is limited, growing carrots in containers will also produce a worthwhile crop.</div> <p><strong>Aftercare</strong></p> <div>Water well to encourage germination. Once germinated, carrots should be watered only when necessary to keep the soil moist as excessive water may encourage leaf growth instead of roots. During growth, the carrot roots may be earthed up to prevent green crowns developing.</div> <div> </div> <div>Cover later carrot sowings with fleece or fine netting, and remove all thinnings from the site to minimise carrot fly infestation. Carrots can be harvested from July to December depending on their sowing date. Early varieties may be lifted when required from 9 weeks onwards, while maincrops can be harvested after 11 weeks from their sowing date. Pull a single carrot first to assess the size of the roots. If the soil is dry, lifting carrots can be made easier by watering beforehand. Roots can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to 4 months.</div>
