Banana-shaped fruit with smooth yellow skin and sweet, spicy salmon flesh. 16-24 inches long, 5-8 lbs. It was listed in 1885 by J. H. Gregory's Catalogue, which said, "When ripe it reminds one of a large, overgrown banana... It smells like one, having a remarkably powerful and delicious fragrance." This is one of my all- time favorites, being very sweet and great for specialty markets.</p> <p>90 days.</p> <div> <div> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="1"> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="2" width="100%" valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Instructions</strong></span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Propagation:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Seeds</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Pretreat:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">0</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Stratification:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">0</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Time:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">all year round</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Depth:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">0,5-1 cm</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Mix:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Germination temperature:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">20 ° C</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Location:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">bright + keep constantly moist not wet</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Germination Time:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">1-6 weeks</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Watering:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Water regularly during the growing season</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong> </strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><br /><span style="color: #008000;"><em>Copyright © 2012 Seeds Gallery - Saatgut Galerie - Galerija semena. </em><em>All Rights Reserved.</em><em></em></span></p> <div></div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div> </div> </body> </html>

Once you acquire a taste for this interesting and attractive-looking salad plant, you will find salads based on the ubiquitous Lettuce insipid and dull. Although grown like Lettuce, it has the advantage that it will withstand without complaint both heat and a few degrees of frost. Best if blanched a few days before harvesting and - a personal opinion - tastes better with a home-made French dressing rather than salad cream out of a bottle. If you´ve never grown Endives, do give them a trial.</div> </body> </html>

<h2><strong>White Patisson Seeds</strong></h2> <h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Price for a Package of 10 seeds.</strong></span></h2> <div>White, round, flat and French, this particular pumpkin is not only prepared like a courgette, but -if harvested young and devoured with its peal- also tastes like a courgette. Heirloom variety (read more about Heirloom plants).</div> <hr /> <div><strong>Heirloom Plants</strong></div> <div>An Heirloom plant is an open-pollinated cultivar that was commonly grown long ago, but has been largely supplanted in modern times. Since most popular heritage plants are vegetables, the term heritage or heirloom vegetable is often used instead. Before the industrialization of agriculture, there was a much wider variety of plant foods grown for human consumption. In modern agriculture in the Industrialized World, most food crops are now grown in large, monocultural plots owned by corporations. In order to maximize consistency, few varieties of each type of crop are grown. These varieties are often selected for their productivity, their ability to withstand the long trips to supermarkets, or their tolerance to drought, frost, or pesticides. Flavor and variety are frequently secondary concerns. Heirloom gardening can be seen a reaction against this trend. To be an heirloom, a plant must be "open-pollinated", meaning it will grow "true to type" from seed. This excludes nearly every hybrid. Open pollination allows the same cultivar to be grown simply from seed for many generations. </div> <p></p>

<h2><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em><strong>Fatalii Chili Seeds</strong></em></span></h2> <h3><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>Price for Package of 5 seeds.<br /></strong></span></h3> <div>The Fatalii is a chili pepper of Capsicum chinense that originates in central and southern Africa. It is described to have a fruity, citrus flavor with a searing heat that is comparable to the standard habanero. The Scoville Food Institute lists the Fatalii as the sixth hottest pepper with Scoville units ranging from 125,000 ~ 325,000 units.</div> <div><strong>Cultivation</strong></div> <div>The plants grow 20 to 25 inches in height, and plant distance should be about the same. The pendant pods get 2.5 to 3.5 inches long and about 0.75 to 1.5 inches wide. From a pale green, they mature to a bright yellow (there are red Fataliis around as well, but the yellow one is the "real thing.")</div> <div><strong>Culinary Use</strong></div> <div>The Fatalii is known for its extreme heat and citrus flavor. As such, it makes for a unique hot sauce that usually comprises other citrus flavors (e.g., lime, lemon). The walls of the peppers are very thin, making it very easy to dry. After drying, the peppers can be used as powders.</div>

It is sometimes called the "mother of all peppers," because it is thought to be the oldest form in the Capsicum annuum species.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:11pt;">The Wild Chile Botanical Area in the Coronado National Forest near Tucson, Arizona, has the largest population of chiltepin peppers north of Mexico. This pepper is also the state native pepper of Texas.</span></p> <div><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:11pt;">Tepin peppers, nicknamed “bird’s eye” peppers, rank high in heat level. Some chile enthusiasts argue that the Tepin is hotter than the habanero or Red Savina habañero pepper. This chile pepper is round or slightly oval and about 3/8 inch in width. "Tepin” comes from the Nahuatl Mexican word meaning “flea” because of its smallness. In 1995, Texans named the Jalapeño pepper the official pepper of the state of Texas. But, just 2 years later, the Tepin took over as the official native pepper of Texas.</span></div> <div><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:11pt;">Tepins can be extremely hot, measuring between 100,000 and 250,000 Scoville Units. In Mexico, the heat of the Chiltepine is called arrebatado ("rapid” or “violent”), which implies that although the heat is intense, it diminishes quickly.</span></div>

It is one of the group of strangler figs, where it starts its life deposited on a branch or trunk of a tree by a fig eating bird. The seed rapidly germinates and it starts its life as an epiphyte. It sends out roots that, when they reach the soil below, completely change the nature of the small plant. Boosted by the extra nourishment, it rapidly grows and entwines its host, effectively strangling the very life from it. Eventually the host tree dies and the Banyan is left in its place. By means of aerial roots it forms huge buttressed trunks and can cover an area of 100's of square metres.</div> <div>Capable of growing to over 150 feet tall or more with a spread of 200 - 300 feet or so, this has the potential to become a truly monstrous tree. Pot culture and pruning will keep its size down to more manageable proportions and it does not resent such treatment and will thrive in all sorts of conditions. A tropical tree it is hardy to Zone 11 and is suitable for growing as pot plant or bonsai specimen. It makes an ideal indoor bonsai for those of you looking for a true permanent indoor specimen.</div> <div> <table border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="2" valign="top" width="100%"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Instructions</strong></span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Propagation:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Seeds</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Pretreat:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">0</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Stratification:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">0</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Time:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">all year round </span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Depth:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Cover lightly with substrate</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Sowing Mix:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Germination temperature:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">25 ° C + </span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Location:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">bright + keep constantly moist not wet</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Germination Time:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">until it germinates </span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Watering:</strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><span style="color: #008000;">Water regularly during the growing season</span></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" nowrap="nowrap"> <p><span style="color: #008000;"><strong> </strong></span></p> </td> <td valign="top"> <p><br /><span style="color: #008000;"><em>Copyright © 2012 Seeds Gallery - Saatgut Galerie - Galerija semena. </em><em>All Rights Reserved.</em><em></em></span></p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div> </body> </html>

Wintergreen is a member of the Heath family that forms large mats of glossy green groundcover in the woods. This creeping, rhizomatous shrublet grows to 6 inches tall with scalloped or bristly toothed, glossy, dark green leaves which turn reddish with the advent of cold weather. Foliage has a strong wintergreen scent when crushed. Bell-shaped, nodding, white or pale pink flowers appear in May thru summer and mature to aromatic scarlet fruit that often persists through the winter. This semi-woody, aromatic perennial has creeping underground stems, thus forming small colonies of plants.<br /><br />Wintergreen is the source of wintergreen oil, which is used as a flavoring in candies, chewing gum and some medicine. The leaves are used as a tea.<br />Wintergreen was used by Native Americans to brew a tea. Mohawks, as well as Ojibwes and others, knew the tea as medicinal as well as a healthful beverage. It contains methyl salycliates, the active pain killlers of aspirin, useful for colds, headaches and to bring down fevers. Such names as "teaberry" emphasize importance as a year-round beverage and as a food flavoring for meat and fish cooked with fermented leaves. The berries are cooked into pies and eaten raw during the winter by some tribes. The genus was named for Dr. Gaultier, a Canadian physician of the mid-18th century.<br /><br />Leaf: Alternate, simple, evergreen, oval to elliptical, 1 to 2 inches long, minutely serrated, thickened with a wintergreen odor when crushed, leaves appear whorled since they cluster at tips of plant; dark shiny green above, much paler below often with black dots. <br /><br />Flower: Monoecious; small, 1/4 inch, white, urn-shaped, hanging from short stems from leaf axils, appearing in mid to late summer. <br /><br />Fruit: Red, round, 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter, hanging beneath the leaves, mild wintergreen taste, ripen in late summer and persist into winter. <br /><br />Twig: Slender, green turning brown with age. <br /><br />Bark: Light brown. <br /><br />Form: Low plant with a height of only 3 to 5 inches; stems shoot out of the ground and end in a tight cluster of leaves. <br /><br />Wildlife: Fruit is eaten by a variety of mammals and birds including: chipmunks, deer, grouse and partridge. Leaves are browsed by deer and moose.<br /><br />Other Names: Box Berry, Checkerberry, Deerberry, Eastern Teaberry, Ground Holly, Mountain Tea, Creeping Wintergreen, Ground Tea, Partridge-Berry, Petit the du bois (Quebec, "little tea of the woods"), Redberry Wintergreen, Spice Berry, Teaberry, Winisibugons (Ojibwe, "dirty leaf").<br /><br />Zone: 3 to 8<br />Growth Rate: Slow<br />Plant Type: Perennial Ground Cover<br />Family: Ericaceae<br />Native Range: Eastern North America<br />Height: 2 to 6 inches<br />Spread: 12 to 16 inches. <br />Shape: Ground Cover. Creeps underground to form mats.<br />Bloom Time: May thru Summer.<br />Bloom Color: Urn-shaped, white with hints of pink.<br />Sun: Full to Part Shade<br />Fall Color: Leaves develop reddish tinge in cold weather.<br />Drought Tolerance: Very low to none. Needs moist soil.<br />Water: Medium to High<br />Maintenance: Low<br /><br />Site Requirements /Soil Tolerances: Prefers organic, acid soils with good drainage. Needs cool, moist soil and climate. Dislikes heat and humidity, best in areas with cool summers. Will not tolerate drought.<br /><br />Uses: Suitable for woodland plantings, rock gardens, or heather gardens. <h2><strong>Sargent's Crab apple Seeds (Malus sargentii)</strong></h2> <h2><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>Price for Package of 5 seeds.</strong></span></h2> <p>Hardy, Adaptable, Easy to Grow, Fast Growth, Bonsai, Espalier,  Showy Fragrant Flowers, Edible Fruits, Fall Colors, Winter Interest, Attracts Birds, Butterflies and Hummingbirds, Wildlife Food/Shelter, Cold, Drought  and Wind Tolerant</p> <p>Sargent’s Crabapple is a dwarf, deciduous flowering tree growing 6 to 8 feet tall by 8 to 10 feet wide. Pink buds open to a profuse, spring bloom of fragrant, 1 inch sparkling white flowers. Profuse bloom often occurs only in alternate years. Flowers are followed by small, 1/4 inch, shiny red crabapples, which mature in the fall. The pea-sized fruits are sweet flavored like rose hips, but are not usually used in cooking. Fruits are long-lasting providing winter interest and are attractive to birds and other wildlife. The ovate, lobed, dark green leaves turn yellow in autumn. The yellow fall color contrasts well with the red fruit. The smallest of the flowering crabapple species, this unique very small tree exhibits a very dense, wide-spreading,rounded habit. It can also be grown as a dense multi-stemmed shrub for use in borders or as a screen or hedge.</p> <p>Apple trees begin to fruit in the 3rd year and come into full production from the 11th to 20th year. They may continue to fruit for about 100 years although the fruits may become commercially unprofitable. They require a period of winter dormancy, in general 900-1000 hours of more at less than 45°F. They performs best in areas with medium to low humidity, with long daylight hours, high light intensity and relatively warm days and cool nights.</p> <p>Other Names: Sargent's Crab apple, Sargent Crab apple, Sargent's Crabapple, Sargent Crabapple</p> <p>Zone: 4 to 7</p> <p>Growth Rate: Fast</p> <p>Plant Type: Small deciduous fruiting tree</p> <p>Family: Rosaceae</p> <p>Native Range: Japan</p> <p>Height: 6 to 8 feet</p> <p>Spread: 8 to 10 feet</p> <p>Shape: Rounded small tree with a dense crown.</p> <p>Bloom Time: April-May</p> <p>Bloom Color: Pink buds opening toWhite</p> <p>Flower/Fruit: White fragrant flowers followed by shiny red 1/4 inch fruit</p> <p>Sun: Full Sun</p> <p>Fall Color: Yellow</p> <p>Drought Tolerance: Moderate</p> <p>Water: Medium</p> <p>Maintenance: Low</p> <p>Site Requirements/ Soil Tolerances: Best grown in loamy, medium moisture, well-drained, acidic soil in full sun. <h2><strong>Adenium Obesum&nbsp;Seeds -&nbsp;Desert Rose&nbsp;'Lemon pink'</strong></h2> <h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Price for Package of 5 seeds.</strong></span></h2> <p>Adenium Obesum or Desert Rose (Apocynaceae family) is a species of spectacular succulent native to tropical Africa and Arabia. The plant is a spreading succulent bush, two meters in height, with a thick, fleshy, twisted globose base that tapers gradually upwards, may be rigid and upright, with rather weak and spreading, short branches. The leaves are fleshy deciduous, crowded at the top of the branches. The curious form of the plant is further enhanced by some of the showiest flowers of all succulents, often borne in masses over a long season. The flowers are pale pink to deep red on the petal margins, always fading to near white towards the throat. The throat (floral tube) is white, sometimes with a faint red nectar guide. The flower size averages about 6-7 cm (two inches) in diameter, but this is quite variable among clones. The Adenium is well adapted for growing in pots. Young plants of this variety have a small, ovoid caudex (woody base), and old specimens have large caudexes. Old plants, without any training, look like a bonsai. Despite their beauty and ease of culture, Adeniums are not nearly as popular as one might expect. Perhaps they simply haven't received the exposure they deserve. Adeniums are drought-enduring and can survive for two months or more without being watered. Over flooding of the pot while watering may lead to rotting of the stem base and roots.</p> <div>Sowing instructions</div> <div>Propagation: Seeds / Cuttings</div> <div>Pretreatment: 0</div> <div>Sowing Time: year round</div> <div>Sowing Depth: 0.5 cm</div> <div>Sowing substrate: Kokohum or sowing mix + sand or perlite</div> <div>Sowing temperature: 20-25 ° C</div> <div>Sowing Location: bright + keep constantly moist not wet</div> <div>Germination: 2-4 Weeks</div> <div>Fertilizing: weekly 0,2% or slow-release fertilizer</div> <div>Pests: Spider mites&gt; especially under glass</div><script src="//cdn.public.n1ed.com/G3OMDFLT/widgets.js"></script>
