Momordica charantia.   Common name:  Balsam Pear,  'Sorosí'.  A tropical vine,  native to tropical Africa, but can now be found in all tropical regions of the world.  Medically, in Belize the leaves are boiled and used to purify the blood, reduce blood sugar levels and to fight gastrointestinal problems. The red outer part of the seed is edible and sweet.   It is beautiful follage plant and  can be grown as an annual in colder regions.   This vine  is easily grown from seeds.
